I read this last month, and it keeps coming up as a talking point in my life, so I want to share it with you as well. Maybe you’ve seen this previously and maybe not, but I am pretty sure there’s something here for you.
Take the time to read it today…
President Lyndon Johnson’s 10-Point Formula for Success:
- Learn to remember names. Inefficiency at this point may indicate that your interest is not sufficiently outgoing.
- Be a comfortable person so there is no strain in being with you. Be an old-shoe, old-hat kind of individual.
- Acquire the quality of relaxed easy-going so that things do not ruffle you.
- Don’t be egotistical. Guard against the impression that you know it all.
- Cultivate the quality of being interesting so people will get something of value from their association with you.
- Study to get the “scratchy” elements out of your personality, even those of which you may be unconscious.
- Sincerely attempt to heal, on an honest Christian basis, every misunderstanding you have had or now have. Drain off your grievances.
- Practice liking people until you learn to do so genuinely.
- Never miss an opportunity to say a word of congratulation upon anyone’s achievement, or express sympathy in sorrow or disappointment.
- Give spiritual strength to people, and they will give genuine affection to you.”
― President Lyndon Johnson
While each one of President Johnson’s 10 points could be a mic drop moment on their own, there are a handful of the points that have hit home with me over the last month, and I have been having meaningful conversations around the following:
- #1- Remember names. My husband, Joal is so darn good at this, and you know why? Because he uses them right away and associates them with something to remember the person’s name. I am forever practicing this, but often I do write them down because it’s important to me to remember people’s names. We all want to feel seen, and this is one of the best ways to do that!
- #3- Be easygoing, so things don’t ruffle you. Friends, this is really the work of our lifetime here isn’t it? To maintain inner peace and joy no matter your external circumstances. This is a daily practice for me that includes, taking breaks, somatic resets, reframing my thoughts, and speaking out loud my fears and challenges.
- #6 – Study your conscious and unconscious low vibe elements of yourself- AKA “do the work.” At the Amplified Life Company, one of our key beliefs is that personal development is the foundation of thriving health, meaningful relationships, dynamic leadership, and extraordinary business outcomes. Yet, all too often we get wrapped up in external validation and strategy and forget to turn the mirror back on ourselves so that we can get to the next level!
I invite each of us, including myself, to focus on one principle this week. What does it mean to you in your life? How can you expand its meaning and practice it in your life and business?
We’d love to hear from you too! Email us at hello@carmenohling.com with your thoughts!
